GDAL 1.7 Big Update

GDAL 1.7.1 is here! (1.7.0 was skipped due to a critical bug found right after release.) This includes an major update to the UnixImageIO framework.

:!: This is an incompatible upgrade from 1.6. The main reason is that the new GeoTIFF 1.3 library has a binary incompatibility with the old version. The new frameworks' installation will not delete the old versions, so current software will continue to work.

New in UnixImageIO:

GeoTIFF 1.3.0rc2
libjpeg 12bit included alongside the standard 8bit
libpng 1.4
libtiff 4.0b5 – supports 12bit jpeg compression

I will be updating other software to use the new GDAL and UnixImageIO, but until then :!: they will still require the old versions of these. Note that I won't update Qgis 1.4 for the new frameworks because my development environment is now focused on the Qt Cocoa builds and switching between Qt Carbon and Cocoa is not simple. But the next dev build of Qgis will use the new frameworks.

Oh, and PostGIS is now at v1.5.
