Mac OS X frameworks of various Unix image format and GIS libraries, which are the base requirements for most software available on this site. All frameworks are built for Snow Leopard, Lion and Mt Lion, except as noted. Python modules included have both Python 2.6 (Snow) and 2.7 (Lion & Mt Lion) versions. For older systems, see the download archive.

Important security update: Postgres 9.2.4. I probably won't be updating Postgres 9.1 for the security update (the problem affects all 9.x versions of Postgres), so I suggest upgrading to 9.2.4.

Another developer update - GEOS 3.3.3-2. This fixes the version number in the framework metadata that would cause configuration of QGIS to fail. This has no affect on running any existing software. Because of changes occurring in my release system, this update is not included in the GDAL Complete package, it's only in the standalone GEOS installer package.

Mainly of interest to developers, SQLite 3.7.16.1 and GDAL 1.10 beta2 are now available.

GDAL 1.10 is a beta version, use at your own risk. There is no GDAL Complete 1.10 for now, nor are there format plugins yet. It requires the new SQLite 3.7.16, which includes Spatialite 4.0. Both should be installed on top on GDAL Complete 1.9. Don't worry, GDAL 1.9 and SQLite 3.7.14 (with Spatialite 3.0) will be left alone so other software will continue to work, though Python and the GDAL tools will now…

Various Python modules of GIS interest (those not included elsewhere, like in a framework), and other random modules. These may be available elsewhere, but usually they are built for the python.org Python, and I prefer to stick with the system Python. Also, I link to my frameworks where possible. Downloads are for modules with binary components. Any others can be easily installed from source, no Xcode tools needed.

Note for Mapserver: I'm working on the new Mapserver 6.2 package. A bit slow while I figure out all the new stuff, especially a big change in the build system. Please be patient. One change coming: I'm switching to using the OS X system PHP instead of my own PHP package.

I packaged a FileGDB plugin for the GDAL framework. This is an oddball: it requires a separate download and install (instructions included with the plugin, and sorry, but it's a manual install for now) of Esri's FileGDB API. I decided not to bundle the FileGDB API libraries with the plugin because the license is vague about redistribution AND even if it was clear Esri has export restrictions that I don't have the means to enforce.

NOTE: This will probably be my last PHP-CGI release. It appears MapServer's PHP-MapScript works just fine with PHP-DSO (there were issues with high-volume MapScript use with PHP-DSO in the past). I will be building MapServer for the system PHP-DSO in the future.

The server at my host has hardware trouble, and they had to restore to new hardware from backup. Unfortunately they have this 100% uptime guarantee which means they attempt to serve sites while restoring from the backup. This severely taxes the server, and for days my site was essentially down. Discussions in their forums about past restores suggest that this is likely to continue for over a week!
